28 Mar Joanne Roeder
Joanne works in watercolor and oil with a dynamic style depending on her mood. She can switch it up from a smooth, refined botanical style to one that is more chunky via pallete knife creation. She says that she doesn’t know which style will be utilized or where a project will ultimately go until she gets past the “roughing in” stage of the picture and applies paint.
Joanne is working on her third 40in x 60in triptych. Work of this size is daunting in any “home” environment. She is happy to be following through with her artistic goal, which is “Bigger Is Better”!
Joanne is living her dream, but there is so much to learn about working in the business side of the arts. Better understanding who to meet, where to study, could/should she have a mentor, where can she show her work…all of these questions are goals of Joanne’s to answer and master in order to learn how to best develop a successful art-oriented small business.
Joanne feels that Nickel Plate Arts has given her encouragement. She became interested in Nickle Plate Arts through the Hamilton County Artists Association. Now she is enjoying the benefits of what NPA does for the artist community in Hamilton County and the citizenry of Noblesville. She has a feeling that her awareness has merely scratched the surface of the benefits that can be received through their collective efforts toward the arts.
