19 Jul Artist Showcase: Bobbi K. Samples’ “A Sampling of Color”
It’s clear to many that Bobbi K. Samples is the kind of woman who does what she wants.
A local artist, entrepreneur, and renaissance woman, Bobbi has worn a variety of hats, including dancer, artist, teacher, realtor, and consultant, among others. After receiving her business management degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, Bobbi has owned and operated over six different businesses. Creatively, her art does not shy away from portraying her many facets – Bobbi once used her artistic talents to interpret music into lively and innovative choreography. She transitioned into “dancing” with paint colors on a canvas stage when she began painting at age 48. As she puts it, Bobbi “enjoys a contemporary style with vivid color, a free hand, and copious amounts of oil paint.”
It has been said that Bobbi’s paintings mirror her entrepreneur personality. With many layers and bright, bold colors, her works are uniquely distinctive. Never one to shy away from an idea, her latest endeavor interprets her paintings into clothing and home decor, bringing her artwork into everyday life in fashionable, functional ways.
Bobbi will be returning as Nickel Plate Arts’ Showcase Artist this summer. Her show, “A Sampling of Color,” will be on display in our Stephenson House gallery space from August 4 – 31. The public is invited to attend her opening reception during Nickel Plate Arts’ First Friday celebration on Friday, August 4th from 6-9pm. During this reception, Bobbi will be painting live on location, and will end the evening by auctioning off her fresh artwork with proceeds supporting Nickel Plate Arts. After the reception, “A Sampling of Color” will be viewable during normal gallery hours: Wednesdays – Fridays from 12 noon – 5pm and Saturdays from 10am – 5pm.
