In partnership with Hamilton East Public Library, each month we’ll feature a nature-based picture book on the trail for you to enjoy during a quarter-mile hike in the woods.

This self-guided hike around Holland Park features the children's book "A Day So Gray" by Marie Lamba. The winter-themed book celebrates the hues and comforts of a cozy winter day as a discontented girl first notices only dull grays and browns in a snowy landscape but is coaxed by her friend to look more closely. Soon, she finds orange berries, blue water, purple shadows, and more. This book showcases a warm friendship and a fresh way of seeing things transform across a snow-covered landscape.
