Describing himself as the “Everyday Soul Singer,” Indianapolis vocalist and songwriter Bashiri Asad has spent the past decade developing a sound he calls “IndySoul,” inspired by the classic music of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. He has been a featured artist on WFYI’s Small Studio Sessions and at the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ annual Art & Soul Celebration.
