Stuart Troxel, a native Hoosier and self-taught artist who focuses on oil painting, started exhibiting full time in 2015. Since then, his oil paintings have been exhibited in various galleries and museums around the Midwest. He uses painting as a means to keep himself driven, productive, and hopeful.
The paintings in his showcase are from a multimedia project entitled “Bouts.” “Each self-portrait depicts a different version of myself wearing boxing gloves,” says Stuart. Other works include portraits that illustrate his experiences and relationships from this past year. All of these works will be included in a book of typewritten essays and song lyrics entitled “Bouts.” A companion album of music will be released in early 2021.
Stuart's exhibit will be on display at Four Day Ray from January through March 2021.
