Looking for a way to support you local arts community?  Why not volunteer?!

Each month, we need the help of talented, fun-loving people like you to support all of the amazing things going on in our arts community!  Here are the volunteer opportunities that are coming up this month – just fill out the form at the bottom of the post below or email us at info@nickelplatearts.org to sign up:

 

APRIL

  • April First Friday event support – April 6
    • Assist staff in preparing for, implementing, and cleaning up after the event
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and move furniture indoors and out
    • Must be able to work with food and alcohol
    • Must be comfortable utilizing iPad for sales in our sales system
    • 5-9 p.m. on Friday, April 6th 
  • Data Entry – Any weekday in April
    • Assist in entering and editing data into our fundraising and other databases
    • Must be able to type efficiently and work comfortably with computers
    • We can provide training on the exact programs, but previous experience with Bloomerang or other database software would be a plus
    • Any time between 10 am and 4 pm weekdays
  • Second Saturday activity supervisor – April 14th 
    • This month’s activity will be creating animal-themed crafts. Executive Director and Showcase Artist Aili McGill will be leading the charge!
    • This craft will involve painting, drawing, cutting, collaging, gluing, and delicate work . . .
    • This volunteer must be able & willing to initiate conversations, engage people & encourage adults and children to participate, as well as to be confident in taking creative risks and encouraging participants to be creative.
    • 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th 
    • This can be split into up to three shifts per day:
      • 9:30 am – 12:30 p.m. (includes set-up)
      • 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
      • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (includes tear-down)
  • Fairy House Contest Support – April 16-18
    • Help us gather, catalogue and arrange the fairy houses as contestants bring them in
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and move furniture indoors and out
    • Must be comfortable utilizing iPad for taking photos
    • We could use help from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on April 16th, 17th, and 18th.
    • This can be split into up to three shifts per day:
      • 9:30 am – 12:00 p.m. 
      • 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
      • 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Fairy Tea Party Support – April 18-21
    • Help our resident fairies with their annual tea parties – this event is incredibly fun and adorable! We need help with setting up for each tea party, greeting guests, helping guests get settled in, serving guests snacks and tea, supporting the fairy program, and cleaning up after each party, including washing dishes.  Some of the work is hard, but the event is so fun, you’ll hardly notice!
    • Must be able to lift 10 pounds, move chairs and wash dishes
    • Must be able to work with food 
    • Must be comfortable working with small children
    • We need support from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on April 18th, 19th, and 20th, and from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 21st.
    • The Saturday event can be split into three shifts:
    • This can be split into up to three shifts:
      • 9:30 am – 12:30 p.m.
      • 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
      • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Fairy Friday Support – April 20
    • Help us celebrate the Fairyville trail by supporting our Fairy Friday evening reception.  We will need help greeting guests, supporting crafts, helping guests find and understand the fairy trail, and cleaning up at the end of the night.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and move furniture indoors and out
    • Must be able to work with food and crafts
    • Must be comfortable working with small children
    • Must be comfortable utilizing iPad for sales in our sales system
    • 5-9 p.m. on Friday, April 20th 
  • Fairy Craft Support – April 20 and 21
    • Help us celebrate the Fairyville trail by supporting our Fairy Friday evening reception.  We will need help greeting guests, supporting crafts, helping guests find and understand the fairy trail, and cleaning up at the end of the night.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and move furniture indoors and out
    • Must be able to work with craft supplies, including hot glue guns, scissors, items from nature, and more
    • Must be comfortable working with small children
    • Must be comfortable utilizing iPad for sales in our sales system
    • 5-9 p.m. on Friday, April 20th and 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21
    • The Saturday event can be split into he following shifts:
      • 9:30 am – 12:30 p.m.
      • 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
      • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (includes sweeping up a lot of glitter)
  • Fairyville Trail Support and Clean Up – April 20 and 21
    • We need help arranging houses on the Fairyville Trail on the afternoon of Friday, April 20, supporting guests who are walking the Trail on the 20th and 21st, and tearing down the trail on the evening of April 21st. Anyone interested in helping us set up the trail will also be asked to help us decorate with chalk, glitter, and by hanging items from trees.
    • Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move furniture indoors and out
    • Must be able to walk long distances and move heavy objects
    • Must be able to reach up to hang objects from branches and stoop to mark the sidewalks with chalk.
    • Must be comfortable utilizing iPad for sales in our sales system
    • 1-5 p.m. on Friday, April 20th and 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21
    • The Saturday event can be split into he following shifts:
      • 9:30 am – 1:00 p.m. (check the trail for issues, re-mark the trail as needed)
      • 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (walk the trail to assist guests, hand out maps)
      • 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. (clean up the trail, bring all houses back to the Nickel Plate Arts campus for storage)
