Nickel Plate Arts Valentines Day33

2017 Details

Temptation Exhibit, February 3-24

Fast cars. Get-rich-quick schemes. Someone else’s sweetheart. Eating the entire pint of ice cream in one sitting. Power. What does temptation look like? Find out during Temptation, February’s Judge Stone House gallery exhibit at Nickel Plate Arts, Feb. 3-24, 2017.

Temptation comes in many shapes and forms. We’ve all had that regrettable second piece of chocolate cake or splurged on the had-to-have-them shoes. We’ve called in sick to indulge in a day of fun. Merriam-Webster defines temptation as “a strong urge or desire to have or do something,” and the degree of moral shift varies. From the mild decadence of unwrapping a piece of candy to the thrill of participating in some kind of illicit love, temptation is common, exciting and sometimes dangerous.

What does temptation look like for you? Does it conjure up images of passion, recklessness or indecisiveness? Nickel Plate Arts hosts the enticing Temptation exhibit as a spin on typical Valentine’s Day celebrations. This exhibit will feature the work of Emerging Artists in various media that explore this theme.

Temptation will debut during our First Friday artists’ reception on Friday, Feb. 3, 6-9 p.m., and will remain up for viewing during normal gallery hours through Friday, Feb. 24. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this tantalizing show with your Valentine.

We’re Blushing

“I loved that each activity involved a bit of creativity. You don’t usually go out on a Friday night and paint together or write poetry, so it was awesome to share that kind of experience. Way more interesting than the typical “dinner and candy” Valentine’s Day that a lot of people do.”

– Kelli Yates –

“So much fun! We went with friends and had a totally different Valentine’s Day experience from just doing dinner and a movie. Great crafts and a great time! Definitely will be going again this year.”

– Mike and Linda Felix, attended Date Night –
