The holiday season at Nickel Plate Arts offers you chances to create, shop and revel in the winter arts magic. Elves' Night Out - a holiday date night for grownups: Dec 16th, 6-9 p.m.

Even Santa’s Helpers need a little help sometimes: if you’re worn down by the holiday hustle & bustle, here’s your chance to relax, shop in a cozy environment, and reconnect with your fellow elves! Admission to the event is free, but each couple’s art activity is $10. Register in advance to make it easy when you come in the door!

The night will also include a cash bar featuring local wine and beer.

The artists leading activities will be:

  • Noblesville Maker April Adams – Date Night Matching Bracelets

Local artist Shakila Garugu will also be hosting a special showcase of her art.

We will have wine from Mr. G’s Liquors and from Deer Creek Brewing Company for $5 per serving: our $35 all-inclusive package includes 2 free drinks! Light hors d’oeuvre will also be available for nibbling throughout the night.

And a SPECIAL APPEARANCE by the renown cosplay duo SuperKayce and Knightmage1 in gorgeous handmade costumes!

NPArts Exhibit: Gifted, Nov 24-Dec 30

Our popular holiday exhibit is BACK for its fourth year! Gifted (called “Handmade in Indiana” last year in celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial) is our annual holiday exhibit-turned-gift-market and your one-stop shop for the arts enthusiasts on your holiday shopping list. Shop early for holiday cards, ornaments, gifts, and more in our Judge Stone House in downtown Noblesville. This exhibit kicks off on Black Friday, November 24th, and runs through Saturday, December 30th. Join us for a special Small Business Saturday event on November 25th and be one of the first to choose from the wide selection of pottery, woodenware, jewelry, hand-knit items, home decor, holiday art, and more!

A special opening reception for Gifted will take place on Friday, December 1st from 6-9pm. All work will be for sale and admission is free. Put a dent in your holiday shopping list and enjoy live music, refreshments, drinks, and more! Following the Opening, the exhibit will be open to the public on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 12-5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

    • Mini Artists (beginners: ages 5-8): 12-1:30 p.m.
    • Young Artists (advanced: ages 9-14): 2:30-4 p.m.

What’s a family holiday season without cookies, milk and holiday art projects? Bring your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews to spend some quality time at Nickel Plate Arts and participate in holiday-themed art projects – perfect for gifting (or keeping!). Get artsy with your Christmas celebration by participating in the kid’s version of a “wine and canvas” event and enjoy sweet treats while working on an art project. Santa’s Workshop will feature hour and a half art sessions guided by local artist and art teacher Darlene Patterson. Each Saturday will feature a new and different holiday-themed project for mini artists (beginners: ages 5-8) and young artists (advanced: ages 9-14). Sign-up for one or all sessions! This family holiday event is sure to be magical for artists of all ages. 

December 2: Mosaic Collage Trees (2D)
Explore 2D art by creating mosaic collage trees using mixed-media and painting techniques.

December 9 (part of our monthly Second Saturday Art Lab): Encaustic Ornaments (Maker-Themed)
Learn all about encaustic art in this maker-themed art session by melting crayons into glass ornaments. Create colorful combinations with the crayons, and use other art materials, like glitter, paint, poms, and ribbon, to add finishing touches to your ornament!

December 16: Holiday Basket Weaving (3D)
Learn weaving techniques in this 3D-themed project! Create your own holiday-themed basket using holiday ribbons, yarn, paper strips, and more. Add your own personalized touches using other art materials like feathers and poms. A perfect project for wrapping up gifting or displaying!

Small Business Saturday & Pop Up Class, Nov. 25

Pop-Up Class: Mixed Media Junk Journal

Junk Journal Definition: A handmade book or journal created with recycled materials, found papers and ephemera.

Join us for a pop-up class in conjunction with Small Business Saturday! Explore book-making and the creative process all in one class! During this pop-up class, local artist Tori Weyers will work with students to select materials and create a custom junk journal. Once the books are completed, students will create a finished mixed media spread using paint, markers, watercolor crayons, colored pencils, washi tape, ink and more! Students will also learn a found word technique to give their page spread a fun and unique story or phrase. A perfect way to create a handmade Christmas gift for a loved one!
