In our monthly gallery shows, Nickel Plate Arts welcomes submissions from artists throughout Central Indiana. Preference is given to those in or connected to the six communities along the 30-mile historic Nickel Plate Railroad in eastern Hamilton County and southern Tipton County. If you have questions or encounter issues with our submission form, please contact Aili McGill at email@example.com.
October brings us one of our favorite Nickel Plate Arts signature events – Comic Book in a Day! We get really excited about comic art and the illustrators who create them, so we’ve queued up an exhibit that will celebrate them and other drawing artists, all month long! “Falling in Line” will highlight the talented folks in our creative network who practice graphic arts, illustration, and drawing. We’ll also show off artwork from our Monday Night Drawing Class students from the past year.
Do you identify with the artist genres listed above? We’d love to line our gallery walls with your work! Fill out the form on the right to submit your artwork (up to three pieces) and include all pertinent info. Submission deadline extended to September 26th.
Hanging space in our gallery is limited – we encourage artists to submit pieces no larger than 24″ x 36″. All 2D pieces should be framed and wired for hanging. If you have questions about these requirements, please email Rachael to discuss options. All artist submissions will receive notification as to whether or not the submission was accepted into the exhibit. Accepted artwork should be dropped off on the appropriate dates as specified by the Exhibit Coordinator, Rachael O’Dell. If additional accommodations are necessary, please let us know.
“Falling in Line” will be on display in the Judge Stone House gallery space from October 5 – 27 with most works for sale. Nickel Plate Arts will host a reception on Friday, October 5th from 6-9pm with live music, refreshments, drinks, and more. After the reception, the exhibit will be viewable during normal gallery hours, Wed – Fri from noon – 5pm and Saturday from 10am – 5pm.
Our popular holiday exhibit is BACK for its fifth year! “Gifted” is our annual holiday exhibit-turned-gift-market featuring handmade goods and original artwork from local artists and artisans. This exhibit kicks off on Black Friday, November 23rd, and ends on Saturday, December 29th with a special Small Business Saturday event on November 24th. A special reception for “Gifted” will take place on Friday, December 7th from 6-9pm. All work will be for sale and admission is free.
Similar to last year, we are looking to stock our “gallery-turned-gift-shop” with great handmade items and unique pieces of art for savvy local shoppers. Please note that 2D hanging artwork larger than 12” x 12” in size is limited to “holiday” or “winter” themes only.
Because this exhibit requires a lot of planning and resources, the submission process will be different from our usual exhibits. Check back for further details about including your work in our holiday shopping experience. You are also welcome to email Rachael (firstname.lastname@example.org) to add your name to our list of interested artists.
The Meyer-Najem Corp. headquarters in Fishers’ Nickel Plate District hosts quarterly exhibits featuring contemporary art with a modern or abstract feel.
The gallery does well with large 2-D hanging works and a collection of small works, or about 40 smaller pieces. The space can be shared with another artist. Works will be available for purchase. Exhibiting artists enjoy an opening reception at Meyer-Najem.
The spacious open-concept gallery space is open to the public. Its gray and white walls offer neutral backgrounds to contrast artwork. A hallway branches off the gallery with multiple spotlights to showcase more art. High ceilings and exposed ductwork round out the contemporary space.
To be considered for this opportunity, contact Rachael O’Dell at email@example.com.
