Every Second Saturday of the month, we welcome a few singer-songwriters to the LSS stage for a fun in-the-round style concert.  February's Second Saturday Songwriters Showcase lineup features Frank Dean, Kyra Waltz, and John Gilmore.

Frank Dean has been at the forefront of Indiana music scene for over three decades. He's recorded over a dozen projects either solo or with Hard Times, Blue DeVille, Hillbilly Central, Sindacato,
and The Snakehandlers.  He's received two "Album Of The Year" awards from The Indianapolis Star and NUVO magazine for the CD's "Sindacato" and "Logan County" plus three "Band Of The Year" awards for Sindacato, and Hillbilly Central.  He often performs with his group, featuring LuAnn Lietz, Kim Gradolf, Mike Wilson, Gene Trueblood & Gary Brewer. Frank also performs solo to audiences everywhere in the Midwest, and we’re excited to welcome him to the LSS stage!

Rooted in the crossroads of America, Indianapolis based independent artist Kyra Waltz writes and performs music with striking resolve & always straight from the heart. Her songs are singular and exceptional, where each takes you down a separate path to a flickering or fleeting memory or feeling in time; we are brought into Kyra’s world so completely through her voice, instrumentation, and words. An accomplished pianist and guitarist in her own right, Kyra will tell you her main instrument is her voice, influenced by such powerful female singers as Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, Anita O’Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, among many others. To give back for all the years of formal music education, Kyra teaches private voice lessons, volunteers with the non-profit organization Girls Rock! Indianapolis,  and continues to perform with many projects throughout the City, including the Kyra Waltz Duo, swing and gypsy jazz band The Yeager Swing Quartet, and jazz and jazz fusion band Bon Temps. We’re looking forward to Kyra’s first time on the LSS stage!

John R Gilmore has played around Central Indiana in a variety of different bands over the years. Primarily a Bluegrass guitarist, he started writing songs not so long ago just for fun. He’s spent last four years in a trio called Noble Roots with a couple of wonderful singers, Gary Wasson and Kelli Ray Yates. John’s solo efforts are taking off in his recording studio: with a lot of help from his talented friends on various instruments, he’s busy recording newer songs that haven’t yet made it to the trio's sets. John is also co-founder and President of Logan Street Sanctuary, Inc. We don’t get to hear him on the LSS very often, so we’re glad he’s part of February’s Songwriters Showcase!
